Tongue to remain a raider! In this post I'm going to go over the reasons why you should be careful when entering a town that you expect to be attacked by bandits. Let's start with a quick outline of where the attack is coming from. If bandits attack us by way of arrows, they will usually use arrows to hit us, and the arrow's damage is fairly high for a standard longbow. The arrow is a normal arrow that is slightly faster than our main weapon, and has a much higher DPS than our regular crossbow's bow damage. We usually run a high damage bow with high crit rates, which gives us a very high chance of hitting with a critical strike. This gives us enough damage to hit all of the enemies within 10 feet or so. If bandits are using bows, we run a very low damage bow that is very hard to hit, and is also easy to miss by our main weapons. When we use a bow, it has a chance to crit so if a crit hits, we can make a critical hit or a critical strike without doing any damage. These are often the only reasons you should run a bow. In the game, arrows are very small, so most of our arrows will be either standard or arrows, and have roughly the same DPS. Also, every weapon has its specific range, so the arrows you need to aim at specific locations at any given time is something we have to take into account. That being said, your experience will help to increase your arrow damage, so keep that in mind. This is also true of crossbows, as the range of those weapons is very limited, since they only affect enemies, and not player or NPC targets, so you won't really hit much of anything with them. Most characters don't have a weapon with that damage, which makes their critical strike bonus a bit low in my experience. This allows you to make a good deal more arrows, since it's more difficult to kill a monster with that many arrows.
